We were delighted to welcome Prof. Bruce L. Tai from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University to the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Taiwan University, where he delivered a talk as part of the UAAT International Young Visiting Scholar Program.

Prof. Tai 以「Real-Time Melt Pool Monitoring Using Event-Based Neuromorphic Vision and Sparse Classification」為題,分享其團隊在金屬積層製造熔池即時監測領域的最新研究成果。
Prof. Tai presented his team’s latest research on “Real-Time Melt Pool Monitoring Using Event-Based Neuromorphic Vision and Sparse Classification,” offering a fresh perspective on process monitoring in metal additive manufacturing. By employing event-based neuromorphic imagers combined with a sparse classification framework, his approach achieves significant reductions in data bandwidth alongside microsecond-level temporal resolution, enabling efficient real-time melt pool state identification.
Following the seminar, Prof. Tai joined faculty members and scholars from the department for lunch, engaging in discussions on research directions and potential opportunities for future collaboration.

We thank Prof. Tai for his inspiring talk and look forward to continued exchange and collaboration.
